It’s a classic case of partisan paralysis in the face of overwhelming public demand for change: A recent Huffington Post-YouGov poll found that 86 percent of Americans support a law preventing individuals on the watch list from buying guns. Democrats and Republicans are united on the question, with 87 percent of each group supporting such a ban.

Unfortunately, despite all our progress against [Daesh] on the battlefield and in the financial realm, our efforts have not reduced the group’s terrorism capability and global reach. The resources needed for terrorism are very modest, and the group would have to suffer even heavier losses of territory, manpower, and money for its terrorist capacity to decline significantly.

The terrorists continue to attack and win – as every attack draws a reaction from our leadership to scold and punish the people . . . and in the past eight years, defend the attacking terrorists.
