Yesterday we were contacted by our friends at Forged clothing about helping them to get the word out about their campaign to benefit the estate of Chris Kyle, called “The Legend.” The first question I asked Ryan, the Managing Partner of Forged, was, “Do you have Taya Kyle’s support?” The answer was Yes.

We’ve been made aware of other campaigns currently running  on the Internet that don’t have the support of the Estate, and this is not right. Some people will ask, “Why does it matter?”

I’ll tell you why.

Running campaigns without the Estate’s support doesn’t respect the family’s wishes, and can ultimately hurt the legacy and “brand” of the estate. Knowing it’s a supported project let’s you rest assured that there’s financial transparency in place, and that your good will will go towards a good cause that supports the family’s wishes.

If there’s ever any uncertainty, there’s one simple question you can ask the organization running a memorial campaign. In this case the question is, “Do you have the permission of the estate to run this campaign?”  It’s a yes or no answer.
