When the Kurdish Peshmerga militias recaptured Sinjar, Iraq, they found an extensive tunnel network that ISIS used to evade and escape airstrikes. Additionally, they found bomb-making equipment and living quarters. Most of the tunnels opened up into homes or buildings, allowing freedom of movement between buildings without being seen from the streets.
