MOSCOW—Russia’s Defense Ministry dismissed allegations by the U.S. Air Force that its planes regularly fly too close to U.S. fighter jets, risking collision in the crowded skies above Syria.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Charles Corcoran, commander of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, recently told The Wall Street Journal U.S. pilots were having close calls in Syrian airspace with their Russian counterparts despite a year-old safety agreement between the two countries.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said it was the first time Russian officials had heard such accusations.
