Two of America’s most recognizable former Navy SEALs, Rob O’Neill and Brandon Webb, sat down recently for an unfiltered, no-nonsense conversation covering everything from international flying culture to the cultural decay happening back home in the good old US of A. The interview, embedded below, feels less like your standard question-and-answer session and more like two old friends catching up—and that’s exactly what makes it so good.

American Infrastructure and a Flying Road Trip

Brandon opened up about his life in Lisbon and the freedom he’s found flying his own plane across Europe. There’s a raw honesty in how he compares American aviation culture and infrastructure to Europe’s, highlighting the difference in regulations and attitudes. He plans to make a road trip across Switzerland, Italy, and France this summer, wings attached.

The State of America: A Culture in Decline

Not surprisingly, the conversation took a hard pivot to politics and the sorry state of America. Both men didn’t hold back—pointing to failed leadership, media manipulation, and the dangerous tribalism eroding the country from the inside out. Rob weighed in on the Ukraine war, China’s long game, and how U.S. politicians are bleeding taxpayers dry while failing to solve basic problems.

Brotherhood Beyond the SEAL Teams

Perhaps the most important takeaway was the discussion of the SEAL veteran community. Both men agreed that the community too often “eats its own.” Rob advocated for a formal alumni association to create a bridge between active-duty and veterans—a real solution to end the public infighting that is often lapped up by social media.
