Breaking: US Navy T-45 Training Jet Missing in Tennessee – Possible Crash

The U.S. Navy said it was investigating reports of a military jet that crashed near Tellico Plains, Tennessee, on Sunday evening, as it appeared unlikely that the crew survived.

A U.S. Navy official speaking to Fox News said a T-45 jet was missing after it took off from Meridian, Mississippi, with an instructor and student pilot on board.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the jet crashed in the Cherokee National Forest near a fish hatchery. – Fox News

The Navy has confirmed (via Twitter) that a T-45 has been reported as missing.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (NNS) — At approximately 6 p.m., Training Air Wing ONE, based at Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian, Miss., was made aware of the reports of a jet crash near Tellico Plains, Tenn., in the Cherokee National Forest.

Training Air Wing ONE and CNATRA are investigating the possibility that it is a T-45 from Training Air Wing ONE based out of NAS Meridian, Miss.

At this time, we know the wing had a T-45C Goshawk training in the vicinity of Tellico Plains that has not yet returned to the air station.

Two pilots were aboard the aircraft, an instructor and a student. Their status is unknown at this time.

Training Air Wing ONE is one of five training wings that belong to CNATRA.
