Civilian federal workers will reach an all-time high in 2017

According to the Obama administration’s budget, the number of civilian federal workers will reach a new high in 2017, with over 1.4 million collecting government salaries. This is a 10 percent increase since President Obama took office in 2009. President George W. Bush had a 19 percent increase in federal civilian workers while he was in office.

As the civilian workforce increases, the military faces new budget cuts, and will have to prioritize personnel, equipment, and training programs.

The federal workforce seems to be growing without any guidance. Will a new president really make a difference?
