Defense Department awards Osprey contract to Rolls Royce for U.S. Marine Corps, Japan

Rolls-Royce has received a potential $117.7 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to supply 50 AE1107C turboshaft engines and related spares for integration with the U.S. Marine Corps’ and Japanese government’s fleet of MV-22 Osprey aircraft.

The Naval Air Systems Command awarded the contract modification to exercise an option under a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract, the Defense Department said Tuesday.

The AE 1107 engine works to power the USMC’s MV-22 tiltrotor aircraft and the U.S. Air Force’s CV-22planes and has a two-shaft axial compressor design, self-contained oil system and two Full Authority Digital Engine Controls.
