Department of Defense identifies Navy Sailor killed by IED near Mosul

According to the DoD, Chief Petty Officer Jason C. Finan, 34, was assigned to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Three (EODMU-3) when he was killed on Oct 20 by an IED near Mosul.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a sailor who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Chief Petty Officer Jason C. Finan, 34, of Anaheim, California, died Oct. 20 in northern Iraq, of wounds sustained in an improvised explosive device blast.

The Navy Expeditionary Combat Command/NECC Pacific released this statement:

“The entire Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) family offers our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and loved ones of the Sailor we lost,” said Rear Adm. Brian Brakke, commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command/NECC Pacific.
