This is a rare opportunity to hear the history of the UDT/SEAL teams from a living legend like Dick Marcinko, the founder of SEAL Team 6 and author of Rogue Warrior. Brandon Webb sat down with Dick Marcinko for an exclusive interview prior to the book club event earlier this month. During this portion of his interview, Dick Marcinko discusses how the Navy first developed the Navy SEALs and the types of missions they were involved in. The SEALs were largely created in response to President Kennedy’s request to have unconventional warfare capabilities in every service in the military. He describes the SEALs as being a new toy for the Navy to play with and their roles were not clearly defined as they are today.
