Abdulkadir Masharipov is believed that committed his attack in the name of Daesh.

What we know so far is that the Uzbek national has been caught in Istanbul’s Esenyurt district while at a friend’s house.
Abdulkadir Masharipov is believed that committed his attack in the name of Daesh.
The group claimed responsibility soon after the attack saying it was revenge for Turkish intervention in Syria. It is however known that they tend to exaggerate their claims and take advantage of every opportunity for self-promotion; with Masharipov arrestested we will know for sure.
It is unknown at this time if information from at least 10 other arrests with connection to the case led the Turkish authorities to his apprehension.
