Report: Nigeria army killed 348 Shiites, 1 soldier killed

A Nigerian commission of inquiry finds the army gunned down 348 Shiites in an attack in which one soldier died and urges the prosecution of all those involved in the killings.

The commission’s report published Monday says it is unable to say with certainty how many people died in a three-day military raid on the headquarters, school and home of leader Ibraheem Zakzaky’s Iranian-inspired Islamic Movement in Nigeria .

The movement refused to give evidence to the commission because of the detention of Zakzaky, who was shot seven times and blinded in one eye during the attack Dec. 12-14, 2015.
