A soldier serving in Afghanistan was brought back to the US to face rape and kidnapping charges

A member of the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division was arrested in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and charged with multiple counts of sex-related offenses on Wednesday.

Sgt. Andrew Lawrence Porter of C Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree forcible-sex offense, and first-degree kidnapping.

Porter, 31, was with his unit in Afghanistan and returned to face the charges, The Fayetteville Observer said.
