The Pic of the Day: Back when the space shuttle needed to hitch a ride

People may have called what NASA’s Space Shuttle did upon reentry “flying,” but in truth, the best the Shuttle could muster was a controlled glide. When one of these technological behemoths needed to do some real flying, they did it on the back of one of only two specially modified 747s that could manage the job.
