The Video of the Week: 3rd Special Forces Group, masters of the unconventional

The 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) is the preeminent special operations force, deploying the DOD’s most competent, adaptable forces worldwide and across the range of military operations. The 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) provides a scalable and self-sustaining special operations capability operating by, with, and through partnered forces to address our nation’s most complex problems.

Green Berets are masters of Unconventional Warfare (UW) and Foreign Internal Defence (FID), among other skillsets. There are currently five Active-Duty Special Forces Groups (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 10th) and two National Guard (19th and 20th). Each Special Forces Group is assigned to a specific Area of Operations (AO). The 3rd Special Forces Group, for example, is primarily responsible for Africa. The demands of the Global War on Terror (GWOT), however, often necessitate the deployment of 3rd Special Forces Group Operational Detachment Alphas (ODAs) to other parts of the world.
