The first deliveries are expected to take place between the second and third quarters of this year.
Temporary Reinforcement Until 2028
The leased AH-64Ds serve as an interim measure to reinforce Poland’s airborne attack capabilities while awaiting the delivery of the more advanced AH-64E Apache “Guardian” helicopters.
In 2024, Poland placed an order for 96 of the latest-generation AH-64Es as part of its broader military modernization efforts.
The first batch of 15 AH-64Es is scheduled to arrive in 2028 and will also be stationed in Inowrocław.

Once the full order is completed, Poland will become the second-largest operator of Apache helicopters in the world, following only the United States.
Enhancing NATO’s Eastern Flank Security
This major acquisition comes at a time of heightened tensions on NATO’s eastern flank. With the ongoing war in Ukraine and increasing security concerns in Eastern Europe, Poland is taking significant steps to modernize its armed forces and strengthen its defense posture.
The Polish Ministry of Defence emphasized that the acquisition of these Apaches not only boosts national defense but also underscores Poland’s commitment to modernizing its military aviation capabilities.
“After the order is completed, Poland will become the second largest user of APACHE helicopters in the world, right after the United States, which will significantly strengthen the country’s defense potential and confirm the determination to modernize and develop the Helicopter Aviation of the Polish Armed Forces,” the Ministry stated.

Poland’s lease of eight AH-64D Apaches boosts its aerial combat strength.
As Poland continues its military expansion and modernization, this Apache lease marks a critical step in enhancing the nation’s defense capabilities.
The introduction of the AH-64D into service ahead of the AH-64E deliveries ensures that Poland remains well-equipped to counter evolving security threats while reinforcing its role as a key NATO ally in the region.
With advanced aerial assets in place, Poland is positioning itself as a stronger force in Europe’s defense landscape, reinforcing its commitment to security and deterrence amid an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
