May 1, 2016Episode 7: Eric Davis Reflects on How He Was Inspired to Become a Navy SEAL
May 1, 2016Eric Davis, former Navy SEAL and author of “Raising Men: Lessons Navy SEALs Learned from Their Training and Taught to Their Sons,” sat down with Brandon Webb for an exclusive SOFREP interview. Eric’s interview coincided with the SOFREP Book Club event in New York City, which hosted the founder of SEAL Team 6, Dick Marcinko. In this portion of Eric’s interview, he reflects on how Marcinko was instrumental to him becoming a SEAL. Eric said he read all of Marcinko’s books when he was younger, and they encouraged him to view becoming a SEAL as a real possibility.
Some modern military movies will have the same effect on this generation. They will inspire young men and women to strive to be and do more than they thought was possible. Most of Eric’s former team members had a similar story of a military book or movie that basically steered them toward becoming a Navy SEAL. People like Dick Marcinko and others who tell their part of military history have helped make the teams what they are today.
