Department of Defense: 3 US soldiers killed and 1 wounded in suspected insider attack in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense released a statement regarding the suspected insider attack in Achin, which is located in Nangarhar province. The Afghan soldier responsible for the attack was killed as well. Shortly after the attack, Taliban claimed responsibility and stated they infiltrated the Afghan army for this exact purpose.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid says in a statement that a Taliban loyalist had infiltrated the Afghan army “just to attack foreign forces.”- AP

The DoD is in the process of notifying the next of kin, therefore the names of the three soldiers have not been released yet. More to follow.
