Breaking: Explosives sent to the White House, Clintons, Obamas, George Soros and CNN

A package addressed to the White House was intercepted on Wednesday, after it was revealed to contain a pipe bomb. Other suspicious packages were also intercepted en route to former president Barrack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. All of these packages were identified at off-site facilities through routine checks and the Secret Service reports none of the addressed targets were put at actual risk.

A similar package was also sent to George Soros, a wealthy liberal activist with strong ties to the Democratic Party. Currently, law enforcement can only speculate that this series of packages are all related. Most of these targets seem to suggest a political motivation against prominent Democrats, except for the White House, where President Trump lives and works.

“The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

“The packages were immediately identified during routine mail screening procedures as potential explosive devices and were appropriately handled as such,” the Secret Service said in a statement.

The package sent to the White House was intercepted at Joint Base Bolling in Washington, DC. and, according to law enforcement officials, was “similar” to the one sent to George Soros’ home, as well as former president Obama and Hillary Clinton. The explosive devices have been described as “rudimentary but functional.” The packages sent to Clinton and Soros were both to their homes in New York City suburbs. It is currently unclear where the package addressed to Obama was sent. A spokesperson for the Obama family declined to comment at this time.

White house Press Secretary Sarah Sanders released a statement on Wednesday morning pertaining to the ongoing investigation:

We condemn the attempted violent attacks recently made against President Obama, President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, and other public figures. These terrorizing acts are despicable, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. The United States Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies are investigating and will take all appropriate actions to protect anyone threatened by these cowards.”

Another potential explosive device may have been sent to the Time Warner building in New York City. CNN, which operates out of that building reports that they were forced to evacuate when the package was discovered.  You can see the moment the evacuation alarm goes off in the CNN newsroom while they were broadcasting below:

This is a developing story with more details to follow as they are released.
