“To the LGBT community — we stand with you. The good in this world far outweighs the evil. Our common humanity transcends our differences, and our most effective response to terror is compassion, it’s unity and it’s love. We stand with you today because we grieve together, and long after the cameras are gone will continue to stand with you as we grow together in commitment and solidarity and in equality, “Attorney General Loretta Lynch stated following the radical Islamic terrorist attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando.
It is understood that her target audience was the LGBT community, however, statements like this give the perception that America is unprepared and unwilling to address the events like Orlando for what they are, radical Islamic terrorist attacks. The fact that she made the decision to censor the 911 tapes solidifies this perception. This posture and response is seen by a global audience and it can invite more attacks on American soil. The DOJ appears to be weakened under her leadership and many republicans have already called for her resignation.
