SOFREP friend and occasional writer Sam Faddis is embarking on his latest mission. This time it isn’t classified intelligence work in Turkey or para-military operations in Iraq, but a run for the United States Senate. Sam plans to focus on issues that are important to the people of Maryland including jobs, healthcare, the economy, education, and the environment. Here is a little bit about Sam from his campaign website:
Sam Faddis is a retired CIA operations officer, published author, and national security commentator. In addition to writing, speaking and teaching, he consults for the U.S. military.
Sam is Senior Contributing Editor for Homeland Security Today, and a frequent contributor to SOFREP.com, NewsMax, and The Hill among other publications and news organizations. Sam has appeared on OAN, Fox News, CNN, Frontline and The History Channel as a national security and counter-terrorism expert.
Sam led the first CIA team into Iraq nine months in advance of the 2003 invasion. After serving abroad in the Middle East, South Asia and Europe, he served as head of the CIA’s Counter Terrorism Center (CTC)’s Weapons of Mass Destruction unit charged with pursuing terrorist weapons of mass destruction programs worldwide.
He has run large organizations, worked across the U.S. Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense and been involved in national security matters at the highest levels of our government. He has also spent more than his share of time running sources and covert action campaigns in the field.
Prior to joining CIA, Sam was a U.S. Army Armor and JAG officer (Captain), and then served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington. Sam is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland School of Law. Sam is the author of “Beyond Repair: The Decline And Fall Of The CIA” and “Willful Neglect: The Dangerous Illusion Of Homeland Security.”
Sam’s father graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1944 and spent 34 years as a U.S. Navy officer serving in both World War II and the Korean War. Faddis’ grandfather served with Blackjack Pershing on the Mexican border in 1917 and then went on to serve in both World War I and World War II. He was also a member of Congress from 1932 to 1942. Sam’s brother is a retired Army officer. Sam’s son is a decorated U.S. Marine Infantry combat veteran, wounded in action in Afghanistan.
Sam and his wife, Gina, have been married for 37 years and have four children and one grandchild.”
