President Trump honors fallen Navy SEAL

President Trump and his daughter Ivanka, boarded Marine One shortly after 3 pm EST today and headed to the ceremony at Dover Air Force Base to honor fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan” Owens as he arrived back home. According to AP, the family wanted Owens’ arrival to remain private which could have been the reason why it was not on President Trump’s official schedule.

Owens’ family is said to have asked that his return be kept private. A recipient of two bronze stars, a Joint Service Commendation and an Afghanistan Campaign Medal, among others, Owens joined the Navy in 1998 and received his special warfare training in Coronado, California. In a statement following his death, the Navy Special Command called Owens a “devoted father, a true professional and a wonderful husband.”- AP

Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens, a 36-year-old, was killed in Yemen this week during a counter-terrorism raid. Owens is the first service member to die during a mission since President Trump has taken office. Three other service members were injured in the operation.
