Israeli police confirmed on Saturday that a Special Forces officer succumbed to injuries sustained during an operation aimed at rescuing four hostages in the Gaza Strip.

“With great sorrow, the Israel Police announce the death in action of Chief Inspector Arnon Zamora, a commander and tactical operator with the Yamam (National Police Counter-Terrorism Unit), who was critically wounded in this morning’s successful hostage rescue operation in Gaza,” police posted on X.

The Israeli military reported the successful extraction of four hostages from central Gaza following a targeted operation.
