Today’s SOFREP Pic of the Day is indeed an interesting one.

The time is circa 1980. We see four young Soviet soldiers (one of them admittedly bearing a striking resemblance to Ghandi) posing with a captured MP5, a relative rarity during that conflict.
That said, here’s a pic I dug up of some Mujahadeen, one (circled) with an MP5K. God knows where he obtained that.
Since, as the saying goes, “The enemy of my enemy is my friend,” perhaps Uncle Sam had his hand in the chain of custody of that weapon. Pakistan, perhaps. The truth is forever lost to history.
