Sentry Eagle: Thunderstruck!

Happy Monday, FighterSweep Fans! As we’ve been sharing with you for the past week, we were honored to participate in Exercise Sentry Eagle 2015, hosted by the Oregon Air National Guard’s 173rd Fighter Wing, based at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Over forty-five aircraft from nine different commands flew, with more than four hundred off-station airmen supporting the operations. It was four glorious days of Defensive Counterair (DCA) and Offensive Counterair (OCA) training in the skies over southeastern Oregon.

During the exercise, the Wing held its base open-house, a big draw for aviation photographers and enthusiasts from all over the United States and abroad. This year, aviation photojournalists came from as far as the Netherlands to take advantage of the superb media access and hospitality provided by the 173rd Fighter Wing’s Public Affairs shop.
