Police on Sunday said a bomb exploded in the central Italian city of Florence as they approached a suspicious package, seriously wounding a bomb-squad officer. Florence police chief Alberto Intini said the officer suffered serious eye and hand injuries.
Authorities noticed the package with wires and a timer around 5.00 a.m. local time (0400 UTC).
