Battlefield America: Literary Reflux in 500 Words or Less, #2

PART II -Watching Syria slowly implode on TV

INFIL Rant: Again, here I am, elbow deep in a pitcher of Pabst Blue Ribbon surfing new blurbs on the Syria crisis on complementary Wi-Fi at the lounge. How the fuck did we get here and who is going to be left holding the bag when the dust settles? Let’s be clear here, Civil War is ugly, plain and simple, but at what point does someone need to step in? Civil War, no matter how brutal, is necessary for a nation to “correct” itself and re-establish its identity, culture and values.

FACT: Roughly 1,147,954 Americans died in the American Civil War from 1861 to 1865. At least 94,000 people have been killed during Syria’s two-year conflict (source: Reuters, May 14, 2013). Please understand that I am only trying to put this struggle into perspective for you. By no means am I downplaying the loss of lives. If you think that, you’re an idiot and need to stop reading my articles (end here).

Writing lair, the Townhouse

For those who understand where I am coming from, please continue. Where is this proverbial “red-line” I keep hearing about, e.g., the use of chemical weapons, the discovery of mass graves, exodus? Understand that this is Syria’s only opportunity to change for the greater good, or continue down the road of desert wasteland breeding uncertainty and hopelessness. Civil war is hard, and if it is truly meant to be, then the Syrian people must continue the struggle and fight.

Ski’s course of action (COA) options

  1. NATO air campaign to drop every strategic asset the Assad regime has. Not hard, I can give you a hand full of targets using Google Earth in about 10 minutes. Coupled with INFIL units from Arab countries to physically seize chemical depots and surface-to-air weapons.
  2. U.N. calls for surrounding Arab nations to police their own and unfuck (technical word for ‘fix’) this situation. Then ask Turkey if they are interested in restate options.
  3. Let Israel take point on a ground war to seize advance weapons and chemical agents, with the NATO in support, and solid demolition and EXFIL plans in place before one set of boots hits the ground. Then turn the country over to Turkey for governance and integration into modern society/civility.

EXFIL Rant: Unfortunately, we end up going around in circles here. If the surrounding Arab countries do not want a stable and productive neighbor, then so be it. Let history shape itself with uninfluenced reason and purpose. See where that gets you. I am tired of seeing other nations and civilizations perpetuate their bullshit at the cost and blood of our Warriors.
