Two Iowa police officers killed in an ‘ambush-style attack’

A Urbandale police officer and a Des Moines police officer were both shot and killed while sitting in their patrol cars at different intersections early this morning. The Urbandale police officer died at the hospital. The names of the officers have not been released yet. According to CNN, police found the two officers at approximately 1:05 am local time after responding to a report of shots being fired in the area. Police quickly identified and began searching for a suspect, Scott Michael Greene.

In a 7:30 a.m. news release, police described Greene, age 46, as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He was last known to be driving a blue 2011 Ford F-150 with Iowa license plate 780 YFR. The truck has a silver-colored topper with a ladder rack, police said.”- The Des Moines Registrar

The Dallas County Sheriff has confirmed that the suspect, Scott Greene is in their custody. Details surrounding his arrest have not been released yet.
