FighterSweep Fans, our friends assigned to the Eagles of U.S. Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 115 (VFA-115) have released a teaser to their 2015 cruise video. In classic Eagles style, this one–much like its predecessor–is awesome. Let’s go back inside the cockpit of the mighty E-Model Super Hornet as the Eagles rage!
This visual masterpience provides our eyeballs with plenty of Rhino awesomeness for this Saturday evening! Stationed at NAF Atsugi, Japan, the Eagles are a part of Carrier Air Wing 5, where they deploy aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76).
To refresh your knowledge of Eagles lore, we’ll go back to when the squadron first developed a relationship with the Boeing F/A-18C Hornet in 1996. At the time, the squadron was based at NAS Lemoore near Hanford, California. They didn’t stay in the legacy Hornet for long–for only 2 deployments, in fact. The squadron became the first Navy strike fighter squadron to transition to the single-seat variant of the Super Hornet.
The Eagles made history with the first Super Hornet combat cruise in 2002, supporting both OEF and OIF while deployed on the USS Kitty Hawk. They’ve assembled an impressive array of awards over the years, with plenty of Battle E’s and both Presidential and Navy Unit Commendations.
