Editor’s Note: Although the CF-188 Hornets from the Royal Canadian Air Force are no longer taking part in combat operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, our neighbors to the north are staying busy. Like all of our NATO partners, the RCAF spends time training with other nations, solidifying agreements and increasing interoperability. Recently, they’ve been to Kuwait, and have now moved on to Romania.

Approximately 100 personnel from 3 Wing and 2 Wing from Bagotville, Quebec, are currently deployed in the Constanta region of Romania to participate in Exercise Resilient Resolve. The Air Task Force includes pilots, operational support staff, maintenance personnel, logistics and information systems specialists, and many other support personnel.

Four CF-188 Hornets are taking part in the exercise. The Hornets were previously deployed to Kuwait for Operation Impact. The fighters arrived on March 7, 2016, a few hours after the first CC-177 Globemaster III flight touched down Romania, carrying about 30 personnel from Bagotville as well as materiel and equipment necessary to conduct the exercise.
