According to a release from the Navy, a Boeing F/A-18A Hornet assigned to the Naval Air Warfare Development Center in Nevada crashed about 8:30 AM yesterday.
The pilot was able to eject safely from the aircraft and is currently being evaluated at a local hospital.
According to Navy officials, the jet was on a routine training mission when it went down in remote, mountainous terrain in the Fallon Range Training Complex, approximately 25 miles east of Naval Air Station Fallon.
The cause is currently under investigation, and we’ll bring you more on this as it becomes available.
