Coalition air strikes have targeted an ISIS oil convoy in Syria in an effort to cripple the terrorist organization’s source of income. This is perhaps the smartest way to fight: Deny the enemy their source of revenue and their will to fight will soon plummet.
This method of targeting may also be more effective than sending in special operations soldiers to kill or capture so-called high-value targets (HVTs) because the oil infrastructure ISIS utilizes is actually much harder to replace than any single leader within their organization. The air strikes were carried out by an AC-130 gunship and A-10 Warthogs.
