Editor’s note: The other day, SOFREP’s good friend Dr. Bob Adams sent me a message and link to the video below. Dr. Bob enters the conversation at about the 24-minute mark. He tells the story of how a fellow SEAL and friend of his was diagnosed with and ultimately passed away from the universally fatal brain cancer glioblastoma.
Unfortunately, the man was not able to get the VA to say the condition was service-connected during his lifetime. After his passing, however, Dr. Bob dug in deep and ultimately was involved in getting the VA to change their mind and award his friend’s widow over $200,000 in back benefits and a monthly stipend. He’s now working hard to get other widows and veterans with cancer the benefits they have rightfully earned. –GDM

“What the devil am I looking at?” you may be asking yourself right now. Did Guy dig out some unpublished pics from Abu Ghraib? No, no, I did not.
First off, that’s Dr. Bob under the hood. He’s enjoying a day at SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) School. That’s a license plate around his neck. And, of course, those are real handcuffs.
Is there a story behind this? Of course, there is, and it is a damn good one. Am I going to spell it all out? No way. There is a much better way to learn what’s going on here, and that’s to hear it from Bob himself. You can do that by watching the video below, where he was a guest on SOFREP’s Frontline Forum.
I know that once you watch the video, it will leave you wanting to know more about this fascinating warrior/healer.
You’re in luck; Dr. Bob has authored three books:
- Swords and Saints: A Doctor’s Journey
- Six Days of Impossible: Navy SEAL Hell Week-A Doctor Looks Back
- My Dear Sara Civil War Letters 1861-1865
You can check them all out at swordsandseals.com, plus unlock yet another short but awesome video.
Don’t miss it!
