Welcome to SOFREP’s Inside the Team Room, Stand and Fight.

Our master pugilist is a former Green Beret and trainer of all manner of special operations forces, Jim “Smokey” West.  His sparing partner is another former Green Beret, SOFREP’s own Jack Murphy.

West is a Grand Master in the American Open Style Karate System, boasting a strong background in boxing, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He knows his stuff and is a veteran of hundreds of bar fights.

Today, we talk about what you may want to do after a fight starts. Of course, in the end, that is up to you, but you have to have options. Just standing there and getting your ass kicked because you are not prepared should not be high on that list.

Murphy notes that oftentimes, when things heat up, people may not want to go straight to blows, so there is a degree of pushing and shoving and testing the other guy out. West describes what you may want to do once that happens and how to prepare for the next steps.
