A great game and a great tradition:

WASHINGTON, Dec. 9, 2017 — In a day dominated by tradition, the only one that really counted was Army “sang second.”

The student bodies of the U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy sing the school song at the end of the Army-Navy football game. The winner sings last.

The game went right down to the wire with Navy missing a field goal and Army winning 14-13.

Army also won the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy as both Army and Navy beat the Air Force Academy this year. It was the 118th meeting in the rivalry. Nearly all midshipmen and cadets of the academies attended the game.

For the past week, the Army and Navy corridors in the Pentagon were abuzz about the game. Army and Navy “spirit squads” roamed the halls on Friday before they headed to Philadelphia.

Deputy Defense Secretary Patrick M. Shanahan attended the game along with Navy Secretary Richard Spencer and Army Secretary Mark Esper, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson.

The game – carried by CBS – is truly a worldwide draw and the network showed troops in Kandahar, Afghanistan, troops deployed to Puerto Rico, aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and “spirit videos” from around the world.

Army charged back in the fourth quarter scoring a touchdown by quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw, and with the extra point took the lead 14-13. But there was plenty of time left as Navy got the ball with good field position. Navy drove, but an attempted 48-yard field goal sailed just wide left as time expired in the game.

The cadets and midshipmen in the stands moved to the field and Navy sang the alma mater – followed by Army.

GOTHENBURG, Sweden — The Swedish police arrested three people on Sunday after a masked gang hurled Molotov cocktails at a synagogue in the port city of Gothenburg as it hosted an event on Saturday night.

The attack set the yard ablaze, but the building did not catch fire and no one was injured. The authorities said the people gathered on the premises had fled to safety in the basement.

A police spokeswoman, Ulla Brehm, said: “It might become a hate crime. The crime is attempted arson. But that may change during the investigation.”

The Police Authority’s commissioner, Dan Eliasson, told the Aftonbladet newspaper that the threat level against Jewish interests in Sweden had increased since President Trump’s announcement that the United States would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The attack in Gothenburg, a city on the country’s west coast, came a day after demonstrators took to the streets of Malmo, Sweden’s third-largest city, shouting slogans about killing or shooting Jews.

Allan Stutzinsky, chairman of the synagogue, who witnessed the fire, told a local newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, that about 10 young people who had gathered outside the gate began setting fire to objects and throwing them at the synagogue.

CLAREMORE, Okla. – One of two brothers convicted in a deadly hit-and-run crash asked a judge if he could join the Marines Corps instead of serving jail time.

Gage Shriver, now 21, Dakota Shriver, now 23, were convicted in September for the deadly crash.

In 2015, Noelle New and Maranda Talley were struck by a vehicle while walking to QuikTrip, according to the Tulsa World.

New died from her injuries and Talley was critically injured, but did survive.

Gage Shriver made the request to dodge prison time during a pre-sentence investigation report obtained by KOKI.

“I’m not the type of person that would leave those girls there for dead,” he said in the report. “I ask that you allow me to join the Marine Corps.”

Dakota Shriver was convicted of second-degree murder and Gage Shriver was convicted of first-degree manslaughter.

The judge denied Shriver’s attempt to join the armed forces; both brothers were sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Philadelphia wants to take away liquor plexiglass because social justice or something:

In a loud voice, the head of an association representing beer deli owners in Philadelphia told a crowd Friday at an emergency meeting and news conference – with City Councilman At-Large David Oh and State Rep. Todd Stephens in support – that business owners should not arm themselves with guns, but should refuse to take down their bullet-resistant safety partitions if ordered to do so by city officials.

“Do not use guns. This is not the solution,” said Adam Xu, chairman of the Asian American Licensed Beverage Association. “If this bill passes, nobody should remove their bulletproof glass. … We will tell the entire city government and all citizens of Philadelphia: ‘We love the community like everybody else. We do not want gun violence.’”

Xu was speaking before a crowd of about 200 beer deli owners and their supporters in response to a City Council bill –expected to be voted on Thursday – that could force them to eventually remove the thick-plastic partitions that separate the owners, many of whom operate in high-crime areas, from the public.

Yet another nut seeking validation through fake victimization:

A sailor who claimed someone scrawled racial slurs on his bed aboard an aircraft carrier —sparking a viral Facebook post in the process — staged the incident himself, the Navy said Friday.

Marquie Little, a 27-year-old African American seaman, posted photos to Facebook on Nov. 15 under an alias that showed his rack on the carrier George H.W. Bush covered in trash and racial slurs.

“I proudly serve the Navy and this is what I’m receiving in return,” he wrote in the post.

“It’s not my first time being called a word such as that,” the aviation boatswain’s mate airman said in a phone interview later that month. “It puzzled me as to who would do it and why they would do it.”

But on Friday Cmdr. Dave Hecht, a spokesman for Naval Air Force Atlantic, said “a thorough investigation” conducted with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service found inconsistencies in the sailor’s account.

“A NCIS-supported command investigation following claims of racially-motivated vandalism aboard the (carrier) has determined that the alleged victim staged the incident himself,” Hecht said in an email…

…Little denied staging the racist vandalism, and said Friday that NCIS had not done a proper investigation, but did not elaborate.

“And now I’m to be here looking like a bad guy for attention,” Little wrote in a text message. “I have nothing to gain from doing such an incident but I have everything to lose.”…

…The sailor’s Facebook post had drawn nearly 20,500 shares as of Friday.

Police arrested a Cheyenne, Wyoming, man last week after the man was accused of groping a 6-year-old boy in the Timnath Walmart Supercenter

Javier Dominguez-Gallegos, 27, was arrested Nov. 29 on suspicion of felony sexual assault on a child.

On Nov. 29, Dominguez-Gallegos reportedly entered the men’s bathroom at the Walmart Supercenter at 4500 Weitzel St. in Timnath, according to records filed in court. He is accused of touching a boy’s genital area while in the bathroom. The boy reported that the stranger’s touching was unwanted and startling.

The boy also reported that Dominguez-Gallegos tried to expose his genitals to the boy. The boy positively identified Dominguez-Gallegos as the person who touched him, according to court records.

Don’t mess with Korean War veterans:

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. — One home invasion suspect is dead and a second suspect is on the run after breaking into a man’s home overnight in Pennsylvania, CBS Pittsburgh reports.

It all started around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday at Don Lutz’s home. The 84-year-old, who sleeps with his gun under his pillow, said he was woken up by the sounds of shattering glass and two intruders barging through his front door. He said he got out of bed, and was confronted by one of the suspects.

“Woken up to them busting in on my front door, and I went out in the hallway in the dark, and I met this one guy, and he went to grab me and that’s when I shot him,” Lutz said.

(UPDATE): The intruder shot and killed by an elderly Pennsylvania homeowner during a home invasion attempt last week turned out to be the man’s nephew-in-law.

Dennis Mercadante, 49, and another man broke into the home at around 1:20 a.m. on Friday, Ellwood City police said.

Mercadante was shot after a struggle in the hallway with homeowner Don Lutz, investigators said. The other man took off.

“I’m a hard believer of guns – not gun control. We should never stop law-abiding people from having guns,” Lutz told the Ellwood City Ledger. “I don’t carry it all the time, but I probably should carry it more.”…

…“I’ve never been afraid in my life,” Lutz, a Korean War vet, told WTAE. “God has always been with me, and I’m a hard believer in God and Jesus Christ, and God was with me tonight.”

Police are searching for the second intruder who ran off.

 “The other one, maybe the bullet hit him, too. I don’t know. I hope so,” Lutz said.

Chronic cannabis users are at risk of experiencing a horrifying new condition that is being reported at hospitals across the country.

‘Scromiting,’ doctors say, is becoming an all-too-familiar site at emergency rooms, with patients ‘screaming and vomiting’ as they turn up for help.

The condition, called Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS), is not properly understood but medical experts believe the symptoms appear from individuals using or consuming heavy amounts of marijuana over a long period of time.

Dr Aimee Moulin, an emergency room physician at UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, said she has seen a rise in cases since California legalized recreational marijuana last November.

She expects to see a further rise after commercial sales are permitted starting in January.

SPARTANBURG Co., SC (WSPA) – A man has been arrested after he was found naked, intoxicated and bloody, according to Spartanburg Co. Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy responded to Dakota St. and Magness Dr. for a call about a mostly naked man covered in blood in neighborhood backyards.

The report says the suspect was sitting near the front door of a home in the 400 block of Magness Dr.

The suspect said he was waiting for the man to come out, according to the report.

The deputy said the suspect was intoxicated and completely naked.

He was disturbing the neighborhood by knocking on several doors and had multiple cuts over his body, according to the deputy.

The suspect, later identified as Everette Martin Jenkins, 50, said he was in a fight in Roebuck and ran there.
