The Pic of the Day

SOF Pic of the Day: In Honor of Delta Operator Thomas ‘Dalton Fury’ Greer

Major Thomas Greer was a Delta operator who was larger than life. After passing from cancer at the age of 52, he is sadly missed.

Delta Force Hero Thomas ‘Dalton Fury’ Greer is shown in today’s photo holding an image of Saddam Hussein with a large hole in it. The photo he is holding looks freshly ripped from the wall. Looking closely, it seems Tom wants to smile after acquiring his trophy. And why shouldn’t he? The man made a career out of “taking care” of bad people in dangerous places.

Unfortunately, he left this mortal coil back in 2016, having passed from cancer at the age of 52.

SOFREP’s own Geo Hand wrote a moving piece remembering Delta Force Major Tom Greer shortly after he passed. You can read that here.

At the time he appeared on 60 Minutes to tell the story of how Delta hunted Osama bin Laden after 9/11, Thomas Greer was wearing a disguise and going by the name Dalton Fury. It’s an interesting story. His orders were to kill bin Laden and leave the body with the Afghans.
