Ironic that I’m on my way to South Africa (SA) and have gotten two requests this month via the comms check portal to cover more units in the South African forces. Jack has done some great historical pieces on Rhodesia and elsewhere but I plan on getting an idea of how the SA SOF puzzle goes together.

From Wikipedia

The South African Police Service Special Task Force (SAPS STF) is the special operations element of the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The STF has a formidable reputation in counter terrorism and insurgency and hostage rescue. Unlike most civilian/police counter terrorist units around the world, the special task force is also trained to conduct military special operations and has done so on many occasions, operating with their military counter parts, especially during the long 30 year border war.
