Despite what guys may tell you at Applebee’s over a free meal on Veteran’s Day, most of us weren’t special operators — but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t love getting a bit of the training that makes America’s special operations forces the world’s most feared fighting institution. In recent years, there have been more and more opportunities to gain some technical (and tactical) know-how from former special operators, but the folks over at Trident Adventures may have nailed the perfect balance of high-intensity training and relaxing vacation environment that’ll allow you spend your small bit of vacation time training, without costing your wife the time at the beach she’s been jonesing for.
Trident Adventures offers a variety of packages for vacationers staying at the Four Seasons in Oahu at Ko Olina, from learning to scuba dive from Navy SEALs to “living” the full SEAL experience. Retired SEAL James Beck draws from 30 years of diving experience, 17 deployments, and over 5,000 dives when teaching aspiring divers how to work their underwater kit. He, alongside former SEAL Stephen Kaplan, who spent time as a SEAL diving instructor for SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE (SDVT-1), don’t just offer dive lessons, however. They offer an all-encompassing SEAL experience right from one of Hawaii’s most comfortable resorts.
The “SEAL for a Day” program includes everything from tactical firearms training to helicopter skydiving — along with the obvious scuba diving training. Depending on how true to life you want your experience to be, you can your friends can either ride between training programs in a helicopter like real SEALs, or in a luxury Limo (like real SEALs would prefer). Likewise, a number of the adventures offered by Trident are family friendly — meaning you and your boys can go full SEAL Team or you and your kids can just have a blast on Spring Break.
Will spending a day or two with the guys at Trident Adventures make you a Navy SEAL? Of course not — but whether you’re an adrenaline junky, a training guru, or someone just looking to inject a little bit of action into your life, it’d be tough to beat training alongside prolific war fighters in one of the most beautiful environments this planet has to offer.
Training with Trident Adventures ranges from just a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands, depending on how badass you want your vacation to be — and how much a good Facebook profile picture is worth to you.
