SOFREP writer, Drew Dwyer got a chance to sit down and interview Nick Irving, former Army Ranger and author of “Way of the Reaper.” In this portion of the interview, Nick talks about his transition from being an Army Ranger sniper to a civilian. His books offered him a way to cope with the hole that was left after he separated from the military and from his experiences while being deployed. Writing books for many military authors is therapeutic for PTSD.
Prior to becoming a Ranger, Nick was set to be a Navy SEAL except for one small issue- he was color blind. Thankfully, he found his way to the Rangers because otherwise he said he would have ended up like a lot of his friends he grew up with. His choices at the time of his enlistment were either the military, a body bag, or prison.
