Amsterdam airport partially evacuated in security alert, one arrested: officials

Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport was partially evacuated late Tuesday and one person arrested amid an unspecified security alert, an airport spokeswoman told AFP.

“Police have evacuated part of the airport plaza and the adjacent Sheraton Hotel and arrested one person amid a suspicious situation,” spokeswoman Danielle Timmer told AFP, adding she had no further information.

Television images showed heavily armed special border police patrolling the outside areas of the airport.
