According to ABC News, David Michael Ansberry a 64-year-old man was arrested in connection with a bomb being placed outside of the Nederland Police Station on Oct 11. A police officer discovered the backpack outside of the small police station and brought it inside. An explosive device was found after police searched the backpack, which was later detonated by the bomb squad. FBI arrested Ansberry after he attempted to fly out of Chicago’s Midway International Airport.

On Tuesday morning, a Nederland police officer found a backpack outside the station and brought it inside, assuming it had been lost or abandoned.

An inspection of the bag revealed an explosive device and the shopping center at 20 Lakeview Drive was evacuated.

The device was determined to be a “legitimate explosive device” that was armed but failed to go off. The bomb squad detonated it early Wednesday morning.

On Thursday, the FBI conducted a vehicle sweep at the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office after a person came forward to claim to have information about the bomb.- Fox 31 Denver
