As I mentioned in this post, I’m starting an extensive research project into the end years of the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation, the KGB/FSB, and the international actions of Russia in respect to the US and NATO especially. I’ve been saying for years that Russia is not our friend, no matter how many concerts Boris Yeltsin did with Bill Clinton, or how Hillary Clinton’s misspelled “Reset” button tried to paint an optimistic picture that the entirety of the fifty years of the Cold War could just go away overnight. History doesn’t tend to point in that direction as a rule. Long-lasting enmities and entrenched power structures never go away overnight. They may restructure themselves, or take on new guises, but they don’t just vanish.
This project is going to be appearing as a series of articles here on SOFREP. Just getting started on the mountain of reading involved, I can’t give much of a timeline or a list of parts. I can, however, point out some of my sources from the get go. That way, y’all can read along and see if you reach the same conclusions I do.
