Are you ready for an ‘Uber’ ride in the air with no pilot? Airbus thinks you are ready and their CEO Tom Enders, suggests they could show you the pilotless single passenger aircraft by the end of 2017. We are currently experiencing a revolution in driverless technology and in this case, pilotless technology that will dramatically change the world we live in.
“One hundred years ago, urban transport went underground, now we have the technological wherewithal to go above ground,” Airbus CEO Tom Enders told the DLD digital tech conference in Munich, adding he hoped the Airbus could fly a demonstration vehicle for single-person transport by the end of the year.
“We are in an experimentation phase, we take this development very seriously,” he said, adding that Airbus recognized such technologies would have to be clean to avoid further polluting congested cities. – Reuters
Airbus calls this initiative Project Vahana and promotes the concept saying, “We are passionate about personal flight.” Their goal is to manufacture the first certified personal aircraft without a pilot. The vehicle could carry a single passenger or cargo.
