Happy Wednesday, FighterSweep Fans! We came across this video of some pretty awesome takeoffs and thought you all would enjoy them.

It’s all footage gleaned from the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) and Farnborough Air Show in 2014, and it features a wide variety of aircraft–from current civilian airliners, warbirds, as well as modern military fighters, bombers, transports, and jumpjets.

Takeoff is one of the most critical phases of flight. A lot can happen–i.e., go wrong–the instant you push the throttles up and start your takeoff roll. There are a large number of variables effecting your aircraft’s performance and ability to fly at that moment, all of which determine the speed, trajectory, and timing of the plane actually taking to the sky.

Do it right and its onward and upward into our favorite playground. Screw it up and people will hear your name on the evening news or read your obituary the following day.

Fortunately these are all examples of takeoffs done correctly, and all are absolutely spectacular in their own right. So crank the volume and prepare to be inspired for your next flight.

See you out in the airspace!
