1960s — A formation of A-1H Skyraider single-seat attack aircraft makes a low-level pass over Vietnamese tanks and ground troops during a training exercise in South Vietnam on Nov. 21, 1963. The Skyraider inspired the straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor, the A-10 Thunderbolt II ground attack aircraft.
