Staff Sgt. Adam S. Thomas, 31 was killed on October 4, from an IED during dismounted operations with Afghan forces in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. According to the DoD press release, Thomas was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Carson, Colorado. Yesterday, Peter Cook, the Pentagon spokesman, stated that an investigation was being conducted and he was not aware of any other casualties in the incident.

The 10th Special Forces Group wishes to express deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and friends who have been tragically touched by the loss of Staff Sgt. Adam Thomas,” Col. Isaac Peltier, commander of 10th Special Forces Group, said in a statement. “Staff Sgt. Thomas epitomized what it is to be a professional Green Beret and soldier. His loss from our organization and his memory will not be forgotten.”- Army Times
