An A-29 Super Tucano turboprop aircraft crashed near Moody Air Force Base in Georgia on Monday. The pilots are from the 81st Fighter Squadron and the aircraft was reportedly to go to Afghanistan at some point in the future.

Both pilots were recovered and taken to Clinch Memorial Hospital in Homerville, Ga., for medical evaluation and have been released.

The A-29s are designed for the close air support (CAS) mission and about 20 Afghan air force pilots have trained to fly eight of the A-29 Super Tucanos at Moody AFB.
Made by the Brazilian company Embraer S.A., there is a total of 20 aircraft to be delivered to Afghanistan by 2018 under a $427 million US funded contract.
