The US government, as part of a multi-billion dollar deal has agreed to sell multiple F-16V fighter jets to the country of Bahrain. As part of the agreement Bahrain is also hoping to update its current F-16 aircraft.

The order would further extend the type’s already remarkable production line. Totalling $2.78 billion, it would comprise 19 F-16Vs, plus 19 Harris Corporation AN/ALQ-211 AIDEWS systems, 38 LAU-118A guided missile launchers, 42 AN/ARC-238 SINCGARS radios (or equivalent) and 22 AN/APX-126 Advanced Identification Friend or Foe (AIFF) systems (or equivalent).

22 cryptographic appliques, secure communications equipment, various spare parts, documentation and support services also feature in the proposed sales package.

The 19 F-16Vs would slot into the Royal Bahraini Air Force’s existing Fighting Falcon fleet. 20-strong, this consists of Block 40 models.” – BAHRAIN BUSINESS NEWS
