The Afghanistan occupation is the Vietnam of our generation. No matter how you measure success Afghanistan will be just as bad off as we found it, and the Taliban are counting the days until we leave.
The only certain thing is that the US has never had a clear strategic objective in Afghanistan. Most we know that are active and former military agree that we should have pulled out in 2003 after disrupting the AQ terrorist training networks.
