I realize there is trade off but if we are talking about protecting yourself/ family etc I definitely chose to carry the higher caliber pistol around.

If you're going to go Glock and 9mm, I'd go with the 17 and take an extra 2 rounds of ammo. But really, I'd rather use the 21 and stick with .45

It is what you are comfy with, I came late to pistols and had to try everything preached about. Turns out my first two were ideal, both 9mm. HK USP, and Glock. Duty piece was Sig229 so I have time and muscle memory invested so I kept some form around for QR. pretty sure you aren't a wimp, cone of shame and all.
